Robert Avery Colburn was born on May 14, 1912 in Highland Park and died on May 25, 2000 at his home. He grew up in Winona, MN, and the Chicago area, bringing his family to Barrington in 1950. An Eagle Scout, he loved to camp and swim. Bob and his brothers pioneered in the motion picture industry and operated the Colburn Laboratory in Chicago. He was a fellow and officer of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers and the Association of Cinema Laboratories. He was the baritone soloist and longtime member of Barrington United Methodist Church, served on the Barrington Public Library Board and was a member of the Hundred Club of Cook County.
Frances Duescher Colburn was born on August 22, 1912, died August 10, 2014. She enjoyed cooking, baking pies, and sewing for her family and playing bridge with friends. She spent many years volunteering for Sherman Hospital, the Girl Scouts, and 4-H activities. She was an active member of the Barrington Methodist Church and the Garden Club. She lived a full life for almost 102 years, spending the last 14 years near family in Bend, Oregon.
